Medicinal Plant Workshop – Brenda Jones
September 26 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm$30
The Sir Andrew Macphail Homestead in Orwell (271 Macphail Park Rd) is hosting a two-hour Medicinal Plant Workshop – Roots, Berries and Bark on Sunday, September 12 at 1:00 p.m. The workshop will be led by Brenda Jones who recently published a book entitled Medicinal Herbs of Atlantic Canada which she wrote and illustrated. Brenda has had a lifelong passion for plants and alternative medicine.
With Summer almost over it’s a good time to start thinking about plants that are traditionally gathered this time of year. Harvesting can be challenging when there is uncertainty surrounding identification. Brenda will take workshop participants on a medicine walk around the beautiful grounds of the Macphail Homestead to point out some of the species growing there. Following the plant identification time Brenda will demonstrate how to use, prepare and preserve some of the plants. Participants will return home with a new appreciation for the amazing plants that grow on Prince Edward Island.
The workshop cost is $30/person. If interested, please register at firstname.lastname@example.org Participation is limited to 12 people. Participants are encouraged to bring a mask, mosquito spray and wear long pants.
